Honeymoon Journal - Sixth Entry
Wednesday shopping, part two, and dinner that night
6/6/02 10:34 PM Pacific Well I've failed completely at getting caught up in my journal keeping. It is the end of Thursday and I haven't even written about the rest of Wednesday yet. Nothing to do but push ahead. Some time yesterday we stopped saying that we are "thinking about" moving to Seattlethere just wasn't any point in pretending that there was any doubt. Today, driving around the Olympic Peninsula, I think we decided that absolutely nothing could keep us away. After dropping our stuff off we headed down to the waterfront. We got turned around a bit but found our way down there quickly enough. We stopped at a variety of shops and saw some really nice stuff, but didn't buy much. We did get a present for Megan (organic coffee) and one for our kitties (salmon). Can you tell that I'm getting tired of doing a play-by-play account of our Seattle shopping? On our way back from the Waterfront we stopped in at another Northwestern tribal art gallery. This place had some of the best looking stuff of all, but also the most expensive. Some day, when we have a ton of money, we'll drop $9,000 or $10,000 in there for two or three pieces of art for our home. We spent a little while back at our hotel before walking up four or five blocks to catch the Monorail for the four minute ride to the Space Needle. It would have been a lot nicer if it had lasted longer. I'm glad that we later heard there are plans to extend it much further throughout the city. Once there we meandered around the gift shop on the ground before taking to the elevator for the quick ride 500+ feet into the air. We got seated soon after and found our table to be thoroughly enjoyable. We spent over 90 minutes in the restaurant (Sky City) and 30 to 35 minutes up on the observation deck above it. It was a pretty nice time, if expensive, though I didn't enjoy my dinner very much. My steak was way overcooked, and as a result was very tough and dry. Then it was back to the hotel and soon after to bed. That's all I'm going to write for now because tomorrow (Friday) we have to get up way too early. We need to leave on the 8:20 AM ferry for Victoria, but that means having our car (and us) in line at the dock by around 6:40 AM. Ouch! So now I'm going to wrap this up and get myself to bed. Maybe tomorrow on one of our two 95 minute ferry rides I'll get to write about today (Thursday). Olympic National Park = 300(Acadia National Park + Rocky Mountain National Park)
